How CBI worked with Sonde

CBI made Sonde’s mental fitness app available to clients on a voluntary basis, to find out how clients would use vocal biomarkers while in treatment for mental health conditions. The app gave clients real-time symptom scores using their voice sample, and these scores were also available to their clinicians via an online dashboard.

"Cognitive Behavior Institute (CBI) is a group private practice in Pennsylvania offering a variety of therapeutic and behavioral health treatments to clients with a range of psychological needs. Several of our clients participated with a pilot study of the Sonde Mental Fitness app. One specific long-term client had been struggling with identifying patterns in her anxiety symptoms. After using the app for a couple of weeks, she began to consistently use the results from her voice samples to identify specific thoughts and events that were contributing to her symptoms. The app also provided a prompt for her to observe her symptoms in a more direct way that allowed her to identify symptoms that were not otherwise as apparent to her.

From my point of view as the therapist, being able to see my client's symptom scores on our dashboard allowed me to also keep track of her reported functioning on my end and helped me to check in with her, especially when her perception of her functioning differed from the voice sample results. These instances prompted conversations that were very beneficial to her progress. In all of these respects, her treatment success was supported by her use of the Sonde Mental Fitness app."
